PORTLAND, Ore.– Federal authorities on Saturday required demonstrators far from a plaza near a federal building as dueling presentations in Portland by conservative and left-wing protesters turned violent.

A number of the protesters wore helmets, eye protection, gas masks and body armor and some brought homemade wood guards, cops stated.

A demonstration Friday that went into Saturday morning came a day after protesters in Portland encountered federal agents outside a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement structure.
